Gare de La Rochelle, the city's main train station (Gare de La Rochelle is the main railway station serving La Rochelle. The station building, which includes a 45-metre-tall clock tower, was built in 1922 by Pierre Esquié for the CF de l'Etat replacing an older building.)

A local fellow playing Pétanque, a form of Boules, a popular local game (Boules is a collective name for a wide range of games in which the objective is to throw or roll heavy balls (called boules in France, and bocce in Italy) as close as possible to a small target ball.)

Eglise Saint Sauveur (The St. Saviour Church (formerly St. Madeleine )  was built in the late seventeenth century. It is  located near the Maubec docks near the old port, and is dedicated to Saint Sauveur, that is, Jesus Christ .)

Admiral Duperré of La Rochelle, a French naval hero of the Napoleonic Wars (Baron Guy- Victor Duperré was born in La Rochelle on  20 February 1775 and died in Paris on  2 November 1846. He was a French naval officer during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.)

Guillaume explains that the frigate L'Hermione sailed from La Rochelle to ferry Lafayette to America (The Hermione was a 12-pounder Concorde class frigate of the French Navy. She became famous when she ferried General Lafayette to the United States in 1780 for support to the Americans in the American Revolutionary War.)

The flags of Heirs-Brouage and Saintonge flutter over a bastion (In 1825 Brouage was joined to the village of Hiers, 2.5 km  away, forming the commune of Hiers-Brouage. Heirs most celebrated son is the French navigator Samuel de Champlain, who lived there when young, before being the co-founder of French settlement in Acadia (1604–1607) and Quebec (1608–1635). Saintonge is a former province of France located on the west central Atlantic coast. Today, four fifths of the historical Saintonge province occupies the modern département of Charente-Maritime.)

Bell Tower of Saint-Barthélémy, part of La Rochelle Cathedral (Attached to the chevet of the present cathedral is the late medieval Gothic bell tower of the church of St. Barthélémy (Saint Bartholomew), first constructed in 1152 by monks from the Ile d'Aix, the rest of which was destroyed by the Huguenots (French Protestants) in 1568. The tower, on one of the highest points of La Rochelle, was used as a gun enplacement against the besieging army of Louis XIII in 1627.)
