Jack and Tom drove to Jamestown directly from a visit to Maine, dropping Georgia off in Boston en route to grab a train back to Cohasset. We played nine holes at the beautiful Jamestown Golf Course and then visited Brad and Alyssa's lovely new home and then had dinner with Alyssa and Brad in Jamestown before returning to Cohasset.

Jamestown Golf Course with the Newport Bridge in the background

Jamestown Golf Course is a 9 hole Public golf course located in Rhode Island – Minutes from Newport, RI – come and play this inviting Links inspired course located within Narragansett Bay. Rolling fairways and generous driving areas make for a relaxing round, but the well manicured greens will test your ability to read greens and putt at every hole. The golf course was first established in 1901 and the subtle history is evident throughout the open, wind blown layout

Jamestown GC, one of the finest muni courses in New England

A nine-hole golf course had been established in a cow pasture near the Dumplings in Jamestown in July, 1895, and was in use until about October, 1904. Known as Conanicut Golf Club, it was one of the first in New England (the Newport Country Club was started in 1890). In 1901 a new clubhouse was erected on the south side of the course and links were laid out on the Littlefield-Clarke farm, today’s Jamestown Country Club. The clubhouse was moved in 1951 to its present location on Conanicus Avenue. The course contains 74.36 acres, with various environmentally sensitive land management areas.

Beavertail Lighthouse, Beavertail State Park

Beavertail Lighthouse, built in 1749, was and still is the premier lighthouse in Rhode Island, USA, especially for entrance into Narragansett Bay. The 45-foot lighthouse lies on the southernmost point of Conanicut Island in the town of Jamestown, Rhode Island in Beavertail State Park. The light has been reconstructed multiple times since its erection, most recently after the Hurricane of 1938. Restoration projects have come and gone since. The light provides navigation for boats and ships entering Narragansett Bay in the East Passage between Conanicut Island and Newport, Rhode Island on Aquidneck Island. Other lighthouses, such as Castle Hill Lighthouse, Point Judith Light, and Rose Island Light are visible from Beavertail Lighthouse.
