In the morning we strolled around Walla Walla, admiring it's beautiful stately homes and quaint downtown area. We visited the Saturday Farmers' Market, where an array of locally produced fruit, vegetables, baked goods and handicrafts were available. In the afternoon we attended the Whitman College versus Willamette University soccer game, a fierce battle in which the Willamette Bearcats eked out a double overtime win over the Whitman Missionaries. Stu was a stout goalkeeper, stopping more that 10 shots on goal and was a strong and vocal leader of his team. In the evening we had a wonderful multicourse dinner, paired with locally produced wines, at Dunham Cellars.

One of Washigton's earliest wineries

Walla Walla Vintners is one of Washington State’s most revered wineries, started by pioneering winemakers Myles Anderson and Gordy Venneri. One of the state’s first wineries, Walla Walla Vintners continues their limited production of award winning red wines, widely regarded as consistently high quality at prices below many of their peers. The winery, in the shadow of the Blue Mountains is one of the most picturesque in the state. It reflects Gordy, Myles and their tight knit team’s commitment to sustainable wine-making, environmental values and a love of the beautiful place they live. Since the beginning their focus remains squarely on their customers – treating them as friends who are always welcome at the winery and there is never a charge for tastings.
