The morning after Sarah's and Tom's wedding, Father Paul celebrated Mass for the family in David's and Shelia's garden at their home in Durham. Afterwards, D and She served a scrumptious brunch, continuing their run of amazing hospitality. Just before noon, Georgia, Tom and Ben embarked for David's and Shelia's country house in Sisters, arriving in the early afternoon to enjoy lunch and brews at the Three Creeks Brew Pub. The next day, Emmie, Gregg, Hannah, David and Shelia joined us and on consecutive days we played golf, first at the Glaze Meadow GC at Black Butte Ranch and then at Aspen Lakes GC. On Wednesday, Georgia and I drove back to Portland via Mount Hood to catch our flight back to Boston, ending two spectacular weeks in Oregon.

The lodge was constructed between 1936 and 1938 as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project during the Great Depression. Workers used large timbers and local stone, and placed intricately carved decorative elements throughout the building.
